Tourism in Assam

Welcome to the largest states in the northeast of India. This State is one of the most beautiful regions in India. There is no other state which has great variety and colors in its nature. Some citizen of India called the magic land or green paradise. It is famous for its, tea gardens, natural beauty, wild life, temples, monuments and mighty Brahmaputra River. Dispur is the state capital and Guwahati is the largest city in the state. It is surrounded by all the six northeast states: Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura, as well as by Bhutan and Bangladesh.

Assam is bounded by Bhutan and Arunachal in the north; Nagaland and Manipur

in the east; Bangladesh , Meghalaya , Tripura and Mizoram in the south and India in the west. It has an inspired location on the banks of the River Brahmaputra. In these northern hilly areas, Agriculturally is very fertile, with heavy rains between June to September, it is full of rice paddy fields, produces about 18 percent of the world's total output of tea. Other tourist destinations in the state are Hajo, Digboi, Manas, Jorhat, Tezpur, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh etc.

In Assam you found very famous temples like Kamakhya temple is a very important Mother Goddess shrine, Navgraha (9-Planets) temple, the Umananda temple, located on an island, and Madan Kamdev temple. In Assam tourists attraction is the Kaziranga National Park the world famous wildlife on the verge of extinction. Assamese silk, bamboo and cane products are the best souvenirs to take home from here.

It has mild winters and warm summers. Summer is from March to June and monsoon from July to August. November to February is winter. Best season to visit Assam is February to May.
