Teez Festivals

The Teej Festival of Rajasthan is one of the most important and the most widely celebrated festivals in India, basically Jaipur city is the only city where the actual festival can be experienced. To give a warm welcome to season of monsoon Teej in

the period of "Shravan" (July-August). It is also known as the Festival of Swings as women tie swings on the branches of trees and Play with swing. In whole Rajasthan, Teej Festival is celebrated by married women and girls only irrespective of their caste. The Teej Festival is dedicated to Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Goddess Parvati was united with Lord Shiva after many years of tough penance on the auspicious day of Teej. Young women dress up beautifully and sing songs about their lovers and husbands while swinging on the swings. They color their hands, arms and feet with henna and put on the flashy apparels to look as beautiful as they can for there husbands. Many programs like folk dance, singing folk songs and poems are played at there home courtyard where whole ladies of there family merge to get enjoy this festival.

The markets are crowded with young enthusiastic women who buy colorful bangles, jewellery and other cosmatic items. The city of Jaipur celebrated Teej with much enthusiasm. The whole of Jaipur is decorated with colorful banners and artificial pilars with lots of lights and slogans which whishes this Teez festivals to the citizen of Jaipur.

The idol of Goddess Parvati is decorated beautifully and is taken on a grand procession. The music and dance that follows the the emanation of the Holy Spirit and splendid to the whole celebration. This amazing festival of two days keeps the people completely busy in the celebrations and this is attended by thousands of people in jaipur. Tourist who visit Jaipur at the time of this festival they also enjoy and see the way of celebrating this festival by the citizen of Jaipur.
